Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
Yes. I want the mothers and fathers who are anti vaxers to see what can happen if they do not vaccinate their children
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Finding the time required to slow my life down and write.
How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I’ve written seven books, six in my Pinky and Bear mystery series and my non-0fiction Polio and Me. My favorite has to be Polio and Me. It was the hardest to write, took everything I had to give, but the readers had been so appreciative of my efforts
If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
Back to my Pinky and Bear series. I would pick Richard Roxburgh (the Aussie actor who starred in Rake) to portray Pinky.
When did you begin writing?
After I took an early retirement, I started to write golf and travel articles. After ten years I decided to move on and write novels.
How long did it take to complete your first book?
My first PInky and Bear mystery, The Bloody Birthright, took me only three months to complete the first draft.
Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
Carl Hiaasen
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
The solitude with my classical music in the background.
Describe your latest book in 4 words.
Man in casserole heaven
Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?
My latest novel in a comedy of manners novel about a sixty-five year old man who moves into a posh senior living facility and finds himself the center of attraction. The title is, Casper Potts and the Ladies Casserole Club.
About the Author
Ken Dalton was born in Los Angeles in 1938. In 1943 he contracted polio and spent the next eleven years of his childhood in and out of hospitals.
Fifty-nine years ago he married his childhood sweetheart and is a father of three, a grandfather of four, and the great-grandfather of nine.
After a thirty-eight year management career with Pacific Telephone Company, Ken retired to write golf and travel articles for Golf Digest, Golf Illustrated, Fairways and Greens, and Golf.com.
During two NBC-TV Celebrity Golf Tournaments at Lake Tahoe, he interviewed Olympic Decathlon Champion, Bruce Jenner when he was Bruce, not Caitlyn, the mischievous Chicago Bears quarterback, Jim McMahon, the iconic Vice-President Dan Quail, and NBC Today show anchor, Matt Lauer.
Ken has published six mystery novels. Polio and Me marks his initial foray into the world of non-fiction.
Presently, Ken is working on his seventh mystery, The Heretics Hymnal, and a comedy of manners novel, Casper Potts and the Ladies Casserole club.
