INTERVIEW
Is
There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
That you control your own life and your
own happiness. No one can make you happy. It’s up to you.
Is
there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
In all my writing or in Chaperoning
Paris? This book had far more heart and less adventure than everything else I
ever wrote. In the sequel Kate is almost Gigi’s antithesis and she’s definitely
on an adventure. In the book after that Gerard is running for office and Nicole
is changing her life. But in all the books, Chaperoning Paris was an emotional
book. It was harder than most because I had to dig deeper.
How
many books have you written and which is your favorite?
A lot. Now I have Mything You out.
Chaperoning Paris . Favorite Coffee, Favorite Crush. Coming out is Mything
The Throne. Borrowing the Doctor. Electing Love. Frozen Peril is with my agent.
I just finished an unnamed manuscript, I’m calling it Heiress’ Lost Family.
Then there are the three of my six book series that are written that I’ve never
sold. I also have a book I want my writes back to that was sold. I have two
short stories out. And by the end of July I should have another one in rough
draft. So is that 12 or 14? Not sure how to count the shorts.
If You
had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today,
who would you pick and why?
Jake Gyllenhaal -Sean
Amy Adams Gigi
Hugh Jackman- Daniel
Gerard Butler -Gerard
Liam Helmsworth- Liam
Huh. I
googled the names of Gerard and Liam and just liked the first actor that popped
up, A LOT. Works for me.
When
did you begin writing?
If
you count my terrible fan fiction days then I started writing at age 14.
However more seriously to publish, this started in 2009
How
long did it take to complete your first book?
The unpublished book. Technically it
would need more work so that’s a work in progress of 5 years. Every book is
different. I wrote Electing Love in six weeks, but I was a government major. I
teach AP Government and my students have a great passing rate. Gerard was
running for office. I understood the game and it was easy.
Did you
have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
Yes. Leah Michaels. I totally bought
her book Creating Romantic Characters as a teenager and tore it apart.
What is
your favorite part of the writing process?
The
idea stage.
Describe
your latest book in 4 words.
Chaperoning Paris = Emotional. Life changing. Reunion . Love.
Can you
share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your
writing?
I
already mentioned The Collins brothers have more books coming out and they are
all going on adventures. Currently I’m working on a gothic romance set in Maine ,
complete with wondering if there are ghosts or what’s really happening in the
wall and can she trust the hottest man she’s ever met.
Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miami sun. She’s worked in engineering, after passing many tests proving how easy Math came to her. Then hating her life at the age of twenty four, she decided to go to law school. Four years later, after passing the bar and practicing very little, she realized that she hates the practice of law. She refused to one day turn 50 and realize she had nothing but her career and hours at a desk. After realizing she needed change, she became a high school teacher. Teaching is rewarding, but writing is a passion.
During all this time, she always wrote stories to entertain herself or calm down. Her parents are practical minded people demanding a job, and Victoria spent too many years living other people’s dreams, but when she sat down to see what skill she had that matched what she enjoyed doing, writing became so obvious. The middle school year book when someone wrote in it that one day she’d be a writer made sense when she turned thirty.
Besides her full time job of teaching, in 2013 and 2014, she sold on her own sold books to three different publishers. The Zoastra Affair, Chaperoning Paris, Borrowing the Doctor, and Electing Love will be published from Soul mate Publishing. Mything the Throne will be published with Double Dragon Ebooks. Favorite Coffee, Favorite Crush will be published with Jupiter Press.
Now she is represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency and she hopes to continue selling her novels that she writes. Moving up to the next level from hard work and determination is rewarding, and partnerships bring new opportunities.
Also she’s the Vice President of Programs for the Florida Romance Writers. She’s gone to multiple conferences and intends to continue. She learns and meets so many people at conferences. Her website is www.victoriapinder.com, and she’ll continue to grow my web presence. She is working hard on other projects and found the time to plan her wedding this year.
Before writing, her father had taken her to many star trek conventions and on her own she grew up as the only girl in the 90s at the comic book store. Science Fiction was her first love, but contemporary romance was her second. She’s sticking with contemporaries for the near future.
Member of Florida Romance Writers, Contemporary Romance, Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal chapter of RWA, Celtic Hearts and Savvy Authors.
